NorLevo - help and advice for women in Ireland

Accidents happen, even with the most careful planning. If you’ve had unprotected sex or you think your normal contraception hasn't worked (maybe due to a missed pill, or a split condom), you can take the emergency contraceptive pill called NorLevo up to 72 hours after you have sex, to prevent pregnancy.

The emergency contraceptive pill is also commonly known as "the morning after pill".

NorLevo is an emergency contraception pill that you can take up to 3 days after having sex. Studies have shown that on average it’s between 52% and 85% effective in preventing pregnancy but the sooner you take it, the more effective it is. It’s best to take it within 12 hours of having unprotected sex, but is effective up to 72hrs. NorLevo may not be suitable for all women, click here for more information. It’s also the only morning-after pill you can buy over the counter from your pharmacist.
